Continuing my research from last summer on an Improved Cook Stove (ICS) called the Makastove. The Makastove uses Interlocking Stabilized Soil Blocks (ISSB) which does not require the use of firewood like the traditional clay bricks used for housing. Visit http://t4tafrica.co/ for more information.
My research took place in the sub-district of Nakitoma of Uganda. Along with research assistants, I conducted 133 interviews of households who received one or more Makastoves the previous year as a part of a joint public/private intervention to reduce soil erosion. The results of this research will be submitted as a paper to academic journals for publication.
