Time to Make the Maps

Map of Nakasongola

I returned with so much to do. I am overwhelmed by where to start. First, I must clean up the data I collected in Nakasongola, begin writing the introduction and methodology sections of my research paper, and prepare for my qualifying exam just to list a few. While I don’t feel a personal life exists for me, nothing could be further from the truth. I’m also juggling many pressing personal matters. After asking myself where to start, I settled on something which will move my paper along but is also creative map making! Note to self, never step away from ArcMap for extended periods of time.  Thank you, Gods, for youtube channels such as tamulibraries (Texas A&M) and of course ArcGIS. They are great to refresh your memory and up your skills. I always learn something new.

While GIS can be time-consuming, I get immense pleasure in spatially representing data with an accurate and aesthetically pleasing map output.  Today is all about tables, attributes, join and relate…. I have to be careful not to get sucked in and before you know it you have lost the day.  My goal today is to merge the many tables I created for the project with the Uganda 2014 census data for Nakasongola district into one file and create shapefiles.  Wish me luck.
